ISP Secretly Added Spy Code To Web Sessions, Crashing Browsers

An internal British Telecom report on a secret trial of an ISP eavesdropping and advertising technology found that the system crashed some unsuspecting users' browsers, and a small percentage of the 18,000 broadband customers under surveillance believed they'd been infected with adware. The January 2007 report (.pdf) -- published Thursday by the whistle blowing site Wikileaks -- demonstrates the hazards broadband customers face when an ISP tampers with raw internet traffic for its own profit. The leak comes just weeks after U.S. broadband provider Charter Communications told users it would be testing a technology similar to what's described in the BT document.

The world has abandoned a fortress mentality in the real world, and we need to move beyond it in cyberspace. America needs a network that can project power by building an af.mil robot network (botnet) that can direct such massive amounts of traffic to target computers that they can no longer communicate and become no more useful to our adversaries than hunks of metal and plastic. America needs the ability to carpet bomb in cyberspace to create the deterrent we lack.

BlueMaho is GUI-shell (interface) for suite of tools for testing security of bluetooth devices. It is freeware, opensource, written on python, uses wxPyhon. It can be used for testing BT-devices for known vulnerabilities and major thing to do - testing to find unknown vulns.

scan for devices, show advanced info, SDP records, vendor etc
loop scan - it can scan all time, showing you online devices
alerts with sound if new device found
on_new_device - you can specify what command should it run when it founds new device
it can use separate dongles - one for scanning (loop scan) and one for running tools or exploits
send files
change name, class, mode, BD_ADDR of local HCI devices
save results in database
tracking - it can show when remote device was seen first and how many times
position feature - it can write to database WHERE scanned device was found (you specify location by yourself)
test remote device for known vulnerabilities (see exploits for more details)
test remote device for unknown vulnerabilities (see tools for more details)
themes! you can customize it

The pdf file obtained by Wikileaks and also released by the german political party Piraten ([update: three days later Piratenpartei removed the document, likely due to legal threats]), contains two scanned documents relating to activities of the Bavarian police, Ministry of Justice and the Prosecution office in intercepting encrypted data submitted via SSL or Skype via the internet. The first one, presenting a communication on splitting cost between Bavarian police and the prosecutors offices, the second one presenting the related offer for the software by a German company called Digitask.
